JESS AND JO GODWICK HALL AND GREAT BARN WEDDING – NORFOLK WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
Another new venue for me this year, and one that I’ve been hoping to work at since starting out as a photographer, was Godwick Hall and Great Barn. On 13th May this year I finally got to work there for the wonderful wedding of 2 lovely ladies, Jess and Jo.
The day started with a few getting ready photographs in the beautiful Godwick Hall where Jess and some guests were staying, just up the drive from Godwick Great Barn. A beautiful hall with large rooms, high ceilings and large windows, it was a cracking location to capture the preparations and a great start to a stunning day. A brief visit to the barn during the morning confirmed what I’d seen on an earlier recce, the rustic, majestic barn had been transformed by Jess and Jo’s vision into a stunning banqueting hall with long rows leading to the top table. As you’ll see, Jess and Jo do like their gin and so an eclectic mix of beautiful gin bottles were incorporated into the table decorations to accompany a hugely impressive gin bar that proved very popular during the afternoon!
One of the unique features of weddings at Godwick Hall and Great Barn is the opportunity to travel to your wedding ceremony by vintage tractor, a mode of transport entirely in keeping with the beautifully remote and rural nature of this stunning Norfolk wedding venue. Embracing this opportunity, the grins on both bridesmaids and brides faces as they arrived at the barn for the ceremony was something to behold and rather set the tone for the day ahead. A day absolutely packed with love, laughter, fun and happiness.
With the sun emerging just in time for a second tractor ride to the stunning ruins that provide a unique and distinctive backdrop to weddings at Godwick Hall and Great Barn we capitalised and took a few fun portraits of Jess and Jo enjoying a few moments together now as a married couple. The afternoon was wiled away on hay bails outside the barn before taking seats in the barn for a wonderful service of tapas, pizza and of course some gin! The evening party kicked off at the other end of the barn soon after a fantastic evening stroll across the fields to watch the sun set behind some rapeseed.
It’s hard to imagine a more perfect setting and wedding day; a day that will live long in my memory and one that so clearly reflected the personalities and love between of the lovely Jess and Jo. Godwick Hall and Great Barn was a wonderful place to work and everything that I’d heard and seen before visiting was more than matched by the reality of working there. A truly unique Norfolk venue and one that I hope I’ll get the chance to return to again.
