Well what can we say. Me and Peter cannot thank you enough. We had the most amazing day. It was everything we both wanted, intimate, personal and relaxed. You played a huge role in making our day so special. You’re such a lovely guy and were wonderful at making everyone feel relaxed and at ease.
The photographs are absolutely stunning. They are so beautiful and we couldn’t have wished for anything more. You have captured so many intimate and special moments that we can treasure forever. There were a few tears looking at them all. All our family have commented about how you have really captured us and truly special moments.
Thank you so much for everything,
Hannah and Peter”
Weddings come in all shapes and sizes and, while a couple becoming married is at the centre of it all, every one is unique and the story of each wedding day a privilege to capture. Beautiful and utterly unique Cley Windmill in North Norfolk is one of the smaller wedding venues and therefore tends to attract smaller and more intimate wedding parties.
I’ve only been fortunate enough to shoot there once before so I was absolutely thrilled when Hannah and Peter got in touch and decided to book me for their ‘secret’ wedding day back in mid-March. I love to try to capture all weddings in a relaxed, informal and honest way and working at weddings in multiple locations with 100s of guests to single locations with only a dozen or so guests each presents its own challenges.
I could lie and say that this wedding presented challenges but it really didn’t! I don’t think it’s possible to find a more relaxed, warm and loving couple than Hannah and Peter and their small group of guests were of course just the same. Everything about their wedding weekend at Cley Windmill was just as they had described when we first spoke and, to be honest, it was the perfect wedding day for how I prefer to work. A fun, relaxed and candid day that ran at a gentle pace with plenty of time for everyone to relish each others company in the most beautiful of surroundings. The love and happiness shared between this lovely group of people was crystal clear from the outset and documenting the day was an absolute pleasure. As you’ll see, we did even manage to find some time (even in March!) for a trip to the stunning pebble beach at Cley for a few photographs of Hannah and Peter having the time of their lives in each others company. Hopefully the few selected images below will give you a feel for their magical day and the wonderful chemistry that they share.
I do have a bit of a reputation for making suggestions for photographs that can potentially lead to dirty shoes and maybe even a slightly dirty wedding dress – on this occasion though, the dress in the sea was all Hannah’s idea!
Like the rest of this wonderful wedding day, just perfect. A lovely couple who are so clearly deeply in love, surrounded by those closest and dearest to them in a little corner of Norfolk that they love to spend their time. More wedding days like these please – it’s hard to call this work when I get so much fun and satisfaction from it but thank you so much to Hannah and Peter for making me feel so welcome at their special day and for allowing me to document it for them. Very special memories indeed.
