GABBIE AND JOSH ENGAGEMENT SHOOT AT CLEY AND BLAKENEY SNEAK PEEK – NORFOLK WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
So, a few shots as a sneak peek, shared on Facebook yesterday, of Gabbie and Josh’s engagement shoot in beautiful North Norfolk. Gabbie and Josh are getting married at the incredible Voewood, near Holt in June and wanted to experience an engagement shoot in order to try to become more at ease in front of the camera and to get to know their photographer a little better before their wedding day.
While some photographers provide an engagement shoot as part of all wedding packages, I prefer to leave it as an optional extra. I don’t try and sell engagement shoots to clients as I know that it’s more time and money at a financially demanding time in their lives and it’s certainly not for everyone. So far, most of my bookings for 2014 have decided not to book an engagement shoot but I have to say that I really enjoyed spending some time yesterday with Gabbie and Josh.
Although we’d not met before, having booked without consultation some months ago, and with Gabbie concerned that she would not be at ease being photographed, we were very quickly into our stride grabbing some lovely moments, first at Cley Beach and then at Blakeney Quay. Considering how concerned Gabbie was about being photographed, by the second frame of the day (on the pebbles below) it was very clear to me that we really didn’t have a problem!
Anyway, I think we achieved a lot yesterday – we had our first consultation and meeting in the fantastic Byfords, we enjoyed a lovely walk in the fresh air on a beautiful part of our coastline and we grabbed a few shots of a really lovely couple enjoying each others company away from the hustle and bustle of their very busy daily lives in London. Hopefully Gabbie and Josh are now maybe even looking forward (a tiny bit) to the photography on their wedding day and are glad that they’ve broken the ice with the person behind the camera on such an important occasion.
While I really don’t try to ‘sell’ engagement shoots, I do think that the benefits of spending some time with your photographer ahead of your wedding were clear yesterday and I’m certain that this will pay dividends when we next meet on 14th June. I really can’t wait.
