WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY INFORMATION

Andy Davison - Norwich Wedding Photographer

Introduction

As you may have read on my Home Page, I absolutely love wedding photography and always relish the opportunity to deliver images that truly tell the story of a unique day and the people that are a part of it.

I work in a respectful, calm and subtle manner, wherever possible capturing the ebb and flow of events unfolding without intervention and only prompting or providing very gentle direction to capture the occasional creative or natural-looking individual, couple or group portrait.

For me, the best images are those where the subject is not looking at the camera and is acting entirely naturally and I encourage all couples to relax, forget the camera, have fun and let me capture their day in a candid, documentary style. I get huge pleasure and satisfaction from my work and I’m always encouraged by the incredibly generous feedback that I’ve received from every couple; the most common remark is how, despite not relishing the thought of being photographed, people immediately feel at ease in front of the camera and really enjoyed the experience. This is particularly important to me as it’s that relaxed and natural feel to the final images that is my ultimate goal and is often what transforms a good photograph into a great one.

Of course, overall, it is my utmost priority to ensure that you have the very best memories of your wedding day and that you receive images that you and your loved ones will truly treasure.

While there is more information below on packages and pricing, if you do have any questions or would like to discuss a bespoke package that is tailored to suit your needs, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’m always happy to talk photography, am very approachable and will always do my utmost to meet the needs of individual couples. Every wedding day is unique and I’m committed to making the photography aspect of your day work for you.

Engagement or Pre-Wedding Shoots

An Engagement Shoot is an ideal icebreaker and a great way for us to get to know each other.   We will be spending a great deal of time together on this most special of days and an Engagement Shoot can certainly help you feel more relaxed about photography on your wedding day; you will know exactly what to expect from me and, most importantly, I will get to know your likes and dislikes.  Engagement Shoots can take place at a location of your choice and if the weather is inclement on the chosen day, we’ll simply re-schedule to ensure that you get the most from the shoot.  If you prefer, you can also use the Engagement Shoot as a chance to use my services before making your final decision on a wedding booking.

Unlike many engagement shoots, where you then have to buy your images after the shoot, you will receive a disc of high-resolution edited images with a license for you to print and share as you desire.   The disc also contains low-resolution images enabling you to share your images on social media sites and mobile devices.

One increasingly popular use of engagement shoot images is the creation of an announcement card; this is a great way to let guests know that they need to reserve your wedding date in their diaries before you send out the official invites.

An engagement shoot is £350, payable at the time of the shoot or as part of your final wedding photography invoice.

Wedding Books/Albums

Wedding albums are optional extras to the standard digital Packages 1-3 but a discounted wedding album is included in Package 4.  Smaller duplicate albums for parents or gifts to friends and family can also be added to full-size album orders.

Wedding albums are sourced from the UK company Folio Albums; Folio Albums provide an absolutely stunning range of handmade stylish and elegant Fine Art Books and Matted Albums.  Please do visit their website if you’d like a closer look at their products and for some more detailed information – I also have a pricing brochure that can be downloaded from here.

Each album is initially designed by me (based on the images, ideally no more than 70, that you’ve selected from your online gallery following the instructions here) and then approved by you before ordering.  This short video provides an introduction to Folio Albums and their beautiful handmade products.

As I’m busy shooting and editing weddings from April until October each year, I tend to request that album design and orders are left until the quieter months when I can dedicate more time and attention to delivering a truly special product. Although this does potentially delay delivery of the finished albums, it does allow couples the time to ‘live with’ their images for a time and to get a feel for those images which really have to be printed in the final album – sometimes it’s not the images that immediately catch the eye that will last the test of time – quite often hidden gems can emerge during repeat viewings of the gallery/USB of 100s of images and it’s those that we really want to include in a printed album.

If you have any outstanding questions regarding albums, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Availability and Booking

Most couples like to meet or chat to a photographer or 2 before making a decision on who they’d like to book as it’s important that you not only like the photographer’s style but can also get along well on the day.  I take wedding bookings up to 3 years in advance and have a fairly full diary out to about 12 months ahead.  Peak summer weekend dates often attract multiple enquiries so I work on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and unfortunately cannot hold dates open without a signed contract and paid deposit.

If you’d like to check my availability and learn a little more about my packages, please do get in touch.  If I’m available, and you decide that you’d like to book, I will send you a booking form and contract – a completed contract along with a deposit secures a booking and we then stay in touch through to the big day.  Of course, if I am unfortunately already booked for your wedding day, I will always do my best to help you find an available good local wedding photographer of similar style. Andy Davison - Norwich Wedding Photographer
